IPMS USA Region 5 Convention

The IPMS/USA Region 5 convention will be hosted by IPMS Mad City Modelers at the Alliant Energy Center, on March 5, 2022 from 9am to 5pm, CST.

The theme will be “On the Silver Screen”, any subject that has appeared in a movie.Visit https://madcitymodeler.org for more information, downloadable entry forms, contest categories and rules, etc.Visit Mad City Modelers on Facebook, and the IPMS/USA Region 5 Facebook group for ongoing announcements.This years regional will feature the best model raffle in the Midwest, along with a WW2 reenactors exhibit, a large vendor room, ample parking, and more than 60 contest categories and 15 special awards.

Scottcon 2021

Scottcon 2021 is scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2021. Tenative location at the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base. There will be two themes this year. The first will commerate the 30th anniversary of Desert Storm. The second will celebrate the 80 years of Robins Air Force Base.

2021 Phantom Phurball Model Sow

 This is the Re-scheduled 2020 IPMS model show. Our catigories will incl;ude 2020 and 2021 themes and special awards. The date is September 11th 2021. Time is 09:00 AM till 4:30 PM. Below is a list of the categories and special awards: 1. Best First Responders/ Rescue/Emergency vehicles(New Award in honor of 9/11) 2. 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor(New), 3.30th Anniversary of Operation Desert Storm(New), 4. What I built during quarantine (New) 5. World War II Aircraft/Armor in service the last year of the war 1945, 20/20 Vision, All models (no figures) that have painted/decal eyes on them. Example P-40 War hawk with the skull on the crowl.( prior 2020 show theme) 7. Best Ford Mustang (prior 2020 theme) 

Entry Fees: First model $10.00 after that $1.00/per other model entries ( IPMS Members receive $2.00 discount) Juniors (17 and under) $5.00 with unlimited other model entries. 

The Location is Anniston City Meeting Center on 1615 Noble street, Anniston, Alabama 36201. The Meeting Center is located one block off Quintard avenue(US Highway 21). Quintard is the main street that runs from I-20/59 though Anniston. The exit off I-20/59 east and west is exit 185. that is the Anniston/Oxford exit. We would recommend using Google maps or some similar app. 

Show times; Vendor set-up is at 07:00 AM, For contestants and general public is 09:00 AM the show runs till 4:30 PM. Registration for moels starts at 9:00 Am and runs till 12 Noon. At 12:30 PM the judges meeting will be held, after the meeting judging will begin. The judges will be using IPMS guidelines(rivit counters excluded) The Phantom Phlasher raffle begins at 12 noon. The cost of a raffel ticket will be $1.00 or $5.00 dollars. Our raffle includes some out of production "Wingnut Wings) as well as multiple other vehicles,aircraft, armor,ships and sometimes art. 

All modeler and models welcome as well as vendors. 

Safety regulations: Masks are recommeded but NOT required(The club will not provide them), we will have continuous cleanig and and sanitizer as needed. Pleas try to social distant when you can. Alabama has lifed the mask mandate and Alabama continues to give COVID-19 vaaicnes.

NIMCON 9 Region 5 Convention

NIMCON 9 is this year's Region 5 Convention. The theme is "Out of the Box" hearkening back to a simpler time when building out of the box brought us all the joy we needed. Now we can take that and add to it all of the modern tools, paints, weathering products, and techniques that will surely produce stunning out of the box models!

Gold, Silver, Bronze awards (Chicago judging). Best of and special awards. 40 plus vendor tables to satisfy your shopping needs and giant raffle.

WrightCon 2020 IPMS Region IV Convention

Never Surrender

Wright Field Scale Modelers (WFSM) is pleased to announce WrightCon, the 2020 IPMS-USA Region IV Convention, will be held online only this year. The unofficial theme will be “Never Surrender.”

While the pandemic may have put the kibosh on every other model show in Region IV, and throughout most of the US, WFSM refuses to yield to yield to the virus.  It is our desire to bring our friends in Region IV an enjoyable, if somewhat unorthodox, Regional this year. WrightCon will return to its normal in-person format when the pandemic is over.

WrightCon 2020 will be presented in a virtual format, and we invite you to join us in this grand experiment.   Elements of the event will include an

  • online model show and contest with IPMS-style judging,
  • virtual vendor room,
  • door prizes.

Contest

Model registration, entry, and photo upload is now available through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday, November 7, 2020.  Judging will take place from Sunday November 8th – Friday November 13th, with awards announcement on Saturday, November 14th.

Judging will resemble traditional IPMS judging, with teams of judges evaluating entry photos uploaded to the WrightCon website and collaborating via video teleconference.  Judging criteria and approach will be based on the IPMS-USA Competition Handbook.  Judging will be conducted over a 1-week period from the closing of registration to best accommodate the virtual format and the remote judging teams.  Additional details are available at the WrightCon website.

Virtual Vendor Room

Vendors will be listed with a link to a website, webstore, or a list of available kits. Delivery arrangements will be worked out between the vendor and the buyer.

Door prizes

Each model contestant will be automatically entered into a drawing for door prizes. The drawing will take place on Saturday, November 14th live on Zoom (need not be virtually present to win). The specific prizes will be listed on the WrightCon website.

Pricing

We will be offering 2 registrations options: (1) Compete for actual awards, which will be mailed following the show, for a $15 registration; or opt to compete for “virtual” awards, which will consist of recognition on the event website, with a $10 registration.  Price differential is to cover cost of the awards, packaging, and postage.

Vendor options will be available starting at $10 for a link to vendor website or posting of their show offerings.

General admission will also be offered for $5 per person, providing general public access to the virtual contest room, vendors.

RiverCon X 2021 – IPMS Region 6 Regional

Main Theme:

75th Anniversary of Tamiya – The Completed Works.  Any size, era, or genre Tamiya plastic scale model kit from 1946 to present. Although the model basics must be a Tamiya kit, one can use aftermarket products. However, one must have the instructions to show proof it’s a Tamiya kit.

We’ll also have special awards for “The President’s Choice Award” will go the Best Model (as chosen by the RRM Club President.)

“Wings of the Mighty Eighth: Harold “Buck” Rigg Memorial Award” is anything related to the 8th Air Force from WWII to present and covering all aircraft to missiles.

“Bud Lindemann Car and Track Award” which is in refinement after its first unveiling last year but in general is for any car manufactured between 1964 to 1979 which covers the beginning of his sportscast in “Autoscope” to his last in “Car and Track”.

“Porsche: 90 Years in the Making" special car theme sponsored by Hope Contractors.   Any car, truck, or vehicle built by Porsche from 1931 to Present (all types, all scales).   

“Patton’s Cup” for any US Army or US made tank regardless of whose markings are on them, all sizes/all eras, except dioramas.

A People’s Choice Award.

The Grand Master’s Category and Award.  We’ve created a special category for any model that has won the “Best of Class” award at any level whether local, regional National, or other modeling contest venue.  “Best of Class” meaning Best Aircraft, Best Auto, Best of Show, etc.  This category is not for those who won theme awards, special wards, or the individual category winners (typical 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners).  Models in this category are not eligible for any other show or contest awards; i.e. Theme, President’s Award, Best of Show, etc.  Must bring proof; i.e. trophy accompanying the entry.

50 years of Modeling Excellence, IPMS Region IX Contest

IPMS / Fresno Scale Modelers 2020 Model Contest and Show.

We will be celebrating 50 years as a Charter Chapter of IPMS USA by having our best contest and show ever. All are welcome, the event is open to the Public free of charge.

Contest entries are: Adults $12 for the first model and $1 for each additonal entry / Juniors 17 years old and younger $5 unlimited entries.

This event is at the Sierra Sky Park, Airport Code E79. The Airport is apublic airport so fly-ins are welcome and static displays are appreciated. The Contest Contact is Domenic Ortiz, (domortiz@fresnodiscoverycenter.org).
