Here are some frequently asked questions compiled to help our site visitors get answers to the most common questions asked through our "Contact" page.
How can I print my membership card?
To print your membership card, please visit the IPMS/USA membership page; click the log-in icon in the upper right corner of the page, enter your user ID and password, and click the Renew My Membership blue button. You can then select the "Printable PDF" option directly below the small image of your membership card. Note: We no longer send membership cards via postal mail.
Can I renew my membership by postal mail?
IPMS/USA has transitioned completely to online signups and renewals. Please visit the IPMS/USA membership page for more information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our National Office Manager for assistance.
How can I reclaim a lower membership number after rejoining IPMS/USA?
IPMS/USA converted to a new membership system a while back. This system automatically assigns membership numbers based on renewal dates or new ones, so membership numbers cannot be edited.
How can I replace a damaged issue of my IPMS/USA Journal?
The IPMS/USA Journal is a valuable resource to our members. Unfortunately, there are times when an issue is missing or received damaged. If so, please contact our National Office Manager, who can assist with a replacement.
How can I get our chapter information updated on the IPMS/USA website?
Our regional coordinators have a wealth of knowledge regarding topics that affect local chapters and can assist with updates for missing, outdated, or incorrect information about your local IPMS/USA chapter.
What is needed to establish an IPMS/USA local chapter?
Here are the basics for establishing a local IPMS/USA chapter.
- Identify five IPMS/USA members willing to affiliate with, or change affiliation to, your new chapter.
- Identify a Chapter contact. This will be the primary person with whom IPMS/USA will communicate.
- Establish a Chapter Profile on myipmsusa.org. You can work with your regional coordinator on this.
- Complete a chapter fact sheet, which should include meeting information, including your location and a list of chapter members. We have a form for this.
- Process the chapter charter fee of $30.
We highly recommend contacting your area's regional coordinator and the Director of Local Chapters for guidance and recommendations. They are a great source of support as you begin your chapter's journey.
Where can I donate an inherited model/kit collection?
Here are a few suggestions to get you started with donating a collection:
-
Local IPMS/USA Chapters - members of local IPMS chapters might be willing to take them or sell them on your behalf at chapter events. They could raffle them at a show or share them with their chapter members if you wanted to donate them. Please visit our IPMS/USA Region Map for a list of IPMS/USA Regional coordinators who can help make that connection.
-
Local Youth Organizations or Schools - many schools could use them for after-school programs, math programs, or even history programs or projects.
-
Local Hobby Stores - some might consider purchasing a collection for their store stock or have a model club that could take them on.
-
Local Museums - some museums collect artifacts to grow their collections. Check to see if they have a Donation Guide available for reference, or contact them directly to speak with an archivist or historian.
-
Facebook Groups—offers groups that auction or sell built and unbuilt kits. Like eBay, auctions require photos and short write-ups for each kit, and managing the sale and shipping.
Who can I contact to build a model/kit for me?
IPM/USA does offer services associated with commissioned work. However, we recommend contacting a local IPMS/USA chapter to see if they can help.
Who can I contact about reserving a vendor table for one of your events?
IPMS/USA chapters host events all across the U.S. If you are interested in reserving a vendor table or would like to learn more about the event, you will have to contact the host chapter directly. If you are unsure about which chapter to contact, please see our list of local IPMS/USA chapters. We recommend that you have the following information handy when reaching out to the local chapter via email: name of event, location, and date.
