Chapter Charter Renewal Requirements

  1. The Chapter Contact must hold an active IPMS/USA membership.
    1. This person is the primary point of contact between IPMS/USA and the local chapter.
    2. Chapter Contacts whose memberships expire at any time during their tenure are expected to renew their IPMS/USA memberships without delay.
  2. The Chapter has at least five (5) active IPMS/USA members.
    1. This requirement will be verified by the IPMS/USA Director of Local Chapters. No action on part of the Chapter is required. If there are any issues, the Director of Local Chapters will work with the Chapter Contact to resolve them. Otherwise you can consider the rechartering successful..
    2. In the case of a Family membership only one person covered in that membership may be considered as "active" for charter renewal purposes, e.g., a Husband-and-Wife Team under a Family membership will count as a single member.
  3. Pay the rechartering fee of $30.
    1. The annual rechartering fee is due to IPMS/USA no later than December 31 of the year prior to the re-chartering year.
    2. Payment may be made in one of two ways:
      1. Pay online using a debit or credit card at myipmsusa.org.
      2. Send check or money order for $30 (include chapter name and chapter number) payable to "IPMS/USA" to:

        IPMS/USA
        PO Box 1411
        Riverview, FL 33568-1411
  4. Chapter has not violated the IPMS/USA Constitution and By-Laws, the IPMS/USA Code of Ethics, or any covenant contained in original Chapter Charter application.
  5. On an annual basis, on a date determined by the Chapter leadership, a detailed and comprehensive financial statement must be submitted to the chapter membership. This financial report can be published in the chapter newsletter, or through email and printed copies being distributed at a meeting and made available to all chapter members. An oral presentation of the financial report, without a written report, is not sufficient to meet this guideline. The report must be of such detail that all funds received, disbursed, or spent are accounted for and questions from the Chapter membership can be answered by supporting documentation such as receipts for expenses and outlay of funds. The report shall also contain a complete summary of all income and financial transactions involving chapter money. It is not required that the financial statement be submitted to IPMS/USA national office.
  6. Chapters are expected to work in a cooperative fashion with their Regional Coordinator and with the chapters and RCs of neighboring regions to limit scheduling conflicts regarding events. Doing so benefits everyone. Failing to do so can cause hardship for other chapters as well as one's home chapter.
  7. The chapter adheres to the IPMS philosophy of "By Modelers... For Modelers".
  8. Chapters will:
    1. Through their activities, actions, and any media content, present IPMS/USA as an organization that maintains a Family-Friendly and minor-friendly environment.
    2. Avoid models, or images of models which, if the model were entered in the National Model Contest, would be in violation of those rules.
  9. The Chapter must meet the requirements set forth in the IPMS/USA Constitution and By Laws at all times.
  10. Failure on the part of a Chapter to meet any of these requirements can result in loss of the IPMS charter or the cancellation of that charter, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
