TriCity Classic Fifteen " Dr. Strangelove "
Fremont Hornets invite everyone to our 15th TriCity Classic Model Contest & Show, being held at the splendid Fremont Elks Lodge main auditorium. There is a good variety of eating places (sit down, fast food, takeout) within walking distance, we will have vendors hawking all sorts of model wares inside the venue, at least two raffles during the day, FREE parking with in/out privileges. Currently 59 categories (10 Youth/Junior, 49 Senior) for 1/2/3 competition, many Special Awards besides the standard Best of Show (Junior & Senior), Best Air/Auto/Armor/Fig/SF/Dio, including Best Twin Engine Lightning (eligible Lockheed P-38 Family, English Electric family, Arado 234 family) Our theme this year is keeping with our 11 year string of combining a famous cinema work with Geography such as in past “The Italian Job” (Italy) or “Black Rain” (Japan) or “The Battle of Britain” (UK). For 2023, our movie is “Dr. Strangelove” with a theme geography of any USA, USSR, UK subjects within Cold War years 1948 to 1991. Of course, we welcome ALL MODEL SUBJECTS of ALL YEARS/TYPES, as always, and hope to see you at our show. Also returning for only the second time, a series of 3 awards for Junior/Youth eligibility only, called “IT FIGURES”, honoring a great contributor and competitor in past TriCity Classics, Mr Lester Tockerman of IPMS Monterey Bay, who sadly passed before receiving our award for service at the TriCity 14 (he won it posthumously, a first for us!) See our website for details on this award and all sorts of other material.
High Plains Con XXXII
This is the thirty-second contest hosted by High Plains Modelers. As a result, the theme for this contest is 32 - any model with a connection to 32 is eligible for this special theme award. That means it can be 1/32 scale; a subject that had significance in the year 1932, a 32nd anniversary of some event that the model portrays, etc.
We have had events with 50 to 60 entrants and hundreds of models in the past and expect this contest will also have this level of participation.
Contest categories and information will be available at the club website.
