The convention team is still moving forward with planning for the 2020 convention. While we are well aware of all the social distancing and quarantine policies in place around the country these are temporary in nature and we are continuing with the assumption that by late July these will be restrictions will be lifted. The planning team will continue to track this issue closely.

To all fellow modelers,

As the current COVID-19 pandemic continues (it hasn’t peaked yet), we request that  you  follow state & local requests to not meet in any groups and to self quarantine if possible.  This means no monthly meetings or shows.  With limited testing available and no vaccines, it’s not worth the risk.  Between smart phones, email, Facebook, etc., you should be able to stay in contact with your fellow modelers.

Check with your contest chairmen or the event page on the IPMS/USA website before you get in your car!

Dust off your stash and build some models.  As the country music artist Gary Allan sings, “Every storm runs out of rain”.

Stay healthy & safe.  Happy modeling...

IPMS/Champlain Valley is cancelling our CAN/AM Con '20 show and contest which was scheduled for April 25, 2020.  Like most other cancellations this year, this decision was based on CDC guidance to cancel all events which would have been attended by 50 or more persons.  We're hoping to slide this event to 2021, with further details to follow.

While we discontinued the IPMS-sponsored Make and Take program last year, we recognize that some of our Chapters have elected to support MnT activity at the local level. On a trial basis (subject to cancellation) we will provide a $100 post-event grant to any chapter holding a MnT event to offset their costs. Director of Local Chapters Dave Lockhart will be creating an application form for this program.  Photos and writeups of the event activity will need to be submitted along with the application to obtain the grant. If you have any questions in the interim, please reach out to our DLC at DLC@ipmsusa.org

I’m pleased to tell you that the Executive Board has approved two initiatives aimed at active, retired and disabled service members. These are as follows:

  • Disabled veterans – IPMS/USA will provide a free year’s membership to any disabled veteran of a US military branch in appreciation for their sacrifices in support of our country.
  • Active or veteran/retired military members – as a way of recognizing your service and encouraging your entry into or continued enjoyment of our hobby, IPMS/USA will offer a free first-year membership to any current or retired member of each Service Branch of the US Military.  This offer is open to new IPMS/USA members only, and documentation of your service must be provided when applying for membership....
