BuffCon 41

IPMS Niagara Frontier Chapter presents BuffCon 41, our annual model show and contest on Sunday, April 12, 2026 in Cheektowaga (Buffalo) NY. We welcome modelers and interested visitors from Western New York and Pennsylvania, Northern Ohio and Western Ontario. Typically we have around 400 model entries and 55-60 vendor tables in two halls. There's lots to see (and buy!). We open to the public at 9:00 AM  with model registration until 1:00 PM and awards at 4:00. Join us for a fun event in Western New York.

Old Dominion Open

The Old Dominion Open is an annual model Show and Contest that has been hosted by IPMS Richmond for over 20 years. Our Show is held in a historical 36,000 square foot building within the Richmond Raceway Complex.  Our Show is one of the largest local single day shows in the Country and features a model contest, extensive vendor area with over 40 vendors, kit drawings, food and drink vendor on site, and numerous modeling display exhibits.

RiverCon XV – 2026

RiverCon XV – 2026

North Louisiana’s only Scale Model Competition hosted by the local IPMS Chapter, Red River Modelers (RRM).

The RRM are proud to announce their 2026 annual plastic scale model contest: RiverCon XV on March 14, 2026.

Our theme this year is “The British Invasion.”  Anything British whether British made kits like AirFix to a model with British markings (i.e. tank, aircraft, ship, etc).

Here are some details about the event – RiverCon XV – 2026:

First, we are located at LSUS University Center.  We’ve partnered with the LSUS campus in Shreveport, LA to use their student union building for our show.

Schedule of Events:

7:30 am: Center opens for Vendor Setup

9 am: Show/Contest open to the public

10 am: Raffles begin

11:00 am: Pre-Judges Meeting

11:55 am: Judges Meeting

12 pm: Contest Registration ends

ASAP: Judging

3:30 pm: Award Ceremony

NLT 5 pm: End of Show

Admission & Entry Fees:

Adult Modelers – basic entry fee $10; models 1-5 are $2 each; model 6 and more $1 each.

Young Modelers (6-17) – $5 for entry of first model and $1 for each additional entry.

General Admission – $5 for all non-entrants, children 12 and under will be admitted free. Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Girl Scouts are free if they wear their uniform.

Awards:

Besides our theme award for “The British Invasion”, we have

“The President’s Award” will go the Best Model (as chosen by the RRM Club President)

“Wings of the Mighty Eighth: Jack Crumbliss Memorial Award” is anything related to the 8th Air Force from WWII to present and covering all aircraft to missiles.  With the passing of Jack on January 27, 2025, we wanted to honor his memory with the award he loved and sponsored as his dad flew B-26s during WWI with 8th Air Force.

“Bud Lindemann Trophy” recognizes a model the represents a car built between 1967 and 1975 (the time frame that the show Car and Track ran).  This American car can be a production/factory auto. As well as cars that raced on a track; NASCAR, USAC, Drag racing, and road racing.

“75th Anniversary of NHRA ( National Hot Rod Association)” is car theme sponsored by Broadmoor Nails & Spa for any funny car, dragsters, pro stock (1/4 mile track) & pro stock motorcycles. (all types, all scales, all eras). 

“Patton’s Mug” for any US Army or US made tank regardless of whose markings are on them, all sizes/all eras, except dioramas.

“People’s Choice Award” voted on by you…The People’s Choice award was always sponsored by Robert “Bob” Hiatt.  Since Mr. Hiatt passed away in April 2025 & Mona in March this year, we’d like to honor their memory by making the People’s Choice: Robert & Mona Hiatt Memorial Award.  

The Grand Master’s Category and Award.  We’ve created a special category for any model that has won the “Best of Class” award at any level whether local, regional National, or other modeling contest venue.  “Best of Class” meaning Best Aircraft, Best Auto, Best of Show, etc.  This category is not for those who won theme awards, special wards, or the individual category winners (typical 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners).  Models in this category are not eligible for any other show or contest awards; i.e. Theme, President’s Award, Best of Show, etc.  Must bring proof; i.e. trophy accompanying the entry. 

“Best of Class Trophies” – For each category and Best of Show plus the David Quick Memorial for Best Young Modeler.

We also have our unique Challenge Coins for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Awards.
