The NRG was formed in 1948 and is a 501 (c)(3) organization.

The current membership of the Nautical Research Guild is approximately 1,100 members from the US, Canada, Mexico and 27 other countries.

We publish the Nautical Research Journal on a quarterly basis.  It is mailed to all members.

We hold an Annual Conference in the fall at various locations around the US – mostly in coastal locations near maritime attractions with links to maritime history.  We often hold our conferences with or at local Maritime Museums.

We have a 7 member Board of Directors, elected by the membership at large, to serve 3 year terms – without limit on the number of terms.  The board elects a Chairman from among their numbers on an annual basis – the Chairman can serve a max of 3 years as Chairman – then revert back to Director.
