"Grand Strand Scale Modelers, along with "Models 4 Troops" and the Myrtle Beach Vet Center - Department of Veterans Affairs have formed a mentor program for deserving veterans providing kits, supplies, and most importantly, a rewarding hobby in a safe environment. As a part of larger Dept. of Veterans Administration therapy program, model making is a proven method to help veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI and other adjustments related to integrating back into society. Much like meditation, building model kits is a great way to tie a veteran’s past to a more positive present and future. Whether following directions and diagrams, applying decals, painting, or sharing in the pride of working with others, it's a fulfilling process and a great benefit for the Veteran, a mentor, and longer term, the community."
