The meeting was called to order on December 15th, 2024 at 7:00pm EST by Phil Peterson.
Roundtable/Action Item Updates
EA- The review site theme is in need of an update and will work on re-building the theme but this will result in the site being offline for a day or two. A message will be posted so the members are aware.
MVS- Working on getting the 60th anniversary pins out to members. Envelopes have been purchased and now working on the labels. Due to increasing costs of postage, the cost of purchasing additional copies of the Journal will increase from $5 to $7.
NKH- Working with Tidewater IPMS convention team on updating the vendor tables in WildApricot. Pre-Registration planned to open 1 February but may be delayed. Some of the tours present an issue as they are on military bases and it is unclear if the logistics can be worked out. Social event for the Chapter contacts has been planned. Tidewater IPMS reminded that the After Action Report for the convention must be turned in afterwards.
PhP- Rules for the National Contest are being finalized with some more work needed on the Out of Box and Vintage categories.
JN- Still having issues with giving out 60th Anniversary prizes. Working with SH and Tidewater IPMS on ways to recognize industry folks who support us at the convention and throughout the year. Working on an article on “Who is Joe IPMS?”, to give a representation of who it is that makes up IPMS/USA. Atlantis will be providing kits for the “Make and Take” event
SH- Has been working on the Categories and Rules for the 2025 contest. Vintage and Out of Box categories are really being examined to achieve the best options for members. Gundam categories are also being reviewed to ensure the best fit for the contest. Working with the Paper Modelers SIG on updating the judging criteria for paper models.
MO- Still waiting on the After Action Report from Madison so we can close out 2024 and issue them their money. Setting a hard deadline for submission of the AAR for future conventions to be considered. SH to review the operating parameters and draft updates. SH and JN to work on an AAR Template to provide to future host chapters. DLC and Data Manager positions will be sent out as a request for volunteers to the membership.
RA- Next issue at printer and should be delivered around Christmas time. We are getting more content now than in the past, looking at growing the journal over the next few issues. Attempting to get to a point where the Journal is received by most members by the last week of the first Month that’s on the cover. Working on getting caught up with invoicing.
ETR- Feedback received on the Vision, Mission, Strategy statement and edits are being incorporated. A lot going on behind the scenes with our social media accounts and our moderators are doing a fantastic job. Working on partnering with youtube contributors. Has gained full control and access to our X and BlueSky accounts. Wants to work more with RC’s to post more about what’s going on with the local chapters and events and also post featurettes on SIGs.
JT- Handling emails as they come in from the General Inquiry box. Has updated the Paper Modelers SIG with new contact and renewed them on the website as an active SIG. Need to create a new schedule of meetings for 2025.
PP- Ralph Forehand Scholarship expanding to three awards instead of two.
