2010 USN/USMC/USCG 1/72 Aircraft Kit Survey

As 2011 marks the centennial of U.S. naval aviation, aircraft modelers might be interested in this list of US naval aircraft — including those of the Marines and Coast Guard, as well as captured enemy aircraft tested by the US Navy — which are available as 1/72 scale kits. Why 1/72? There are far more kits of naval aircraft available in this scale than any other. Plus, it’s my favorite, in spite of advancing age and weakening eyes.

Alamo Squadron Chapter donated $400 plus $200 by directing that the Regional Convention Grant money be applied to MnT.
John Estes, IPMS #3498, donated $200 to the STT program, the money to be used to purchase paint, glue, and assorted hobby items. John is a member of IPMS El Paso.
I'm pleased to announce that David Goudie has stepped into the role of Associate Webmaster for Reviews. In this role, David will assist me in preparing reviews for website posting after they are returned from our Reviewers' Corps members. David is a retiree of the Boeing Company, and a US Army Veteran. He currently serves as the Newsletter Editor for IPMS/North Olympic Peninsula Modelers' Society (NOPMS) and builds aircraft and "other things if (his) interest is piqued". Please join me in welcoming David in his new role.

I'm pleased to announce that four major industry members have each responded to a call for support for IPMS/USA's modeling programs.
IPMS/USA, the International Plastic Modelers' Society, a not-for-profit organization, offers three outreach programs designed to connect with people interested in the hobby of building scale models. In summary, these are:
- Make and Take (MnT), a process that allows young, would be modelers to build what may very well be their first model kit in a structured environment. Typically held at IPMS/USA local, regional and national contests, and run under the supervision of volunteer IPMS mentors, MnT events have exposed over 6,000 kids to the hobby, creating future modelers and members.
