Alpha Precision Abrasives, from Canada, is entering into the modeling arena with an interesting offer of sanding and polishing tools. This company has a long standing tradition of high quality abrasives for industrial uses.

I've received a variety of their products for a review. I've decided to group them for ease of reading and evaluation.

Professional Sanding Files
(Items #0305, #0307, #0309, #0311, #0312, #0313)

[review image] These sanding files have a standard length of 6 inches and a width of ½ inch. Depending on the packing (item number) they are either 1/8, ¼ or ¾ of an inch wide. They have a different grit in each side. Depending on the item number you get the following combinations: 100/180 grit (coarse), 120/240 grit (medium), 240/320 grit (fine).

The different file widths are very useful, in particular when you are trying to sand a minor correction and you don't want to damage surrounding areas.

They are strong sanding files, yet flexible enough that won't damage your model. I've used them and wash them and after they are dry, they look like new.

Microfine Tapered Files
(Item #1151)

[review image] This item provides you with 5 assorted files, which grits are 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000 and 12000. They are very fine files for a polished finish. They are about 6 inches long and tapered with rounded ends, making it easier to reach into corners and hard to reach spots.

The only thing I wish it would wish it would have done by the manufacturer is to have the file grit printed in the file itself. I know they are color coded, but I like to see it printed in the file.

These are high quality finishing products, recommended for a good surface finish in your next model.
