The latest in Kits at War's 1/32 line is a nice one for those with the recent Pacific Coast Models Spitfire IX, containing three sets of markings for this kit, plus one for a 1/32 RAF Mustang, for one of the choice of kits now available.

The options:
  • Spitfire IX RB185/FT-C of 43 Sqn, Zeltweg (Austria), 1946.
  • Spitfire IX MJ238/X of 73 Sqn, Ta'Qali, Malta, 1946.
  • Spitfire IX MA454/UM-V of 152 Sqn, Italy, 1942.
  • Mustang IV KM272/QV-V "Dooleybird" of 19 Sqn, Italy, 1945.
All individual markings are included for each of the options, but no stencilling is included - it being assumed that these are to be taken from the kit's decals. One set of national markings in included on the assumption that they won't be available in the Mustang kit, but they are also applicable for two of the Spitfire options if the kit markings are sub-standard.

The Mustang option is for the famous "Dooleybird." However, while the aircraft may be famous, there is some controversy as to its exact colour scheme. Over the years, books and kits have been released showing that the canopy/engine cowling trim is yellow, or red, or blue. Kits at War opt for blue; however, you may wish to do deeper research into this. Similarly, the name may be in either blue or red - Kits at War takes the smart way out here by offering both options.

The decals are well printed, in register and opaque, and based on previous experience, I expect them to behave well. The sheet is limited to 100 copies, so you'll need to get your order in quickly if you want this sheet.

My thanks to Kits at War for the review sample. Kits at War decals are available by Paypal from their website, FlightDecs in Canada, or from Hannants in the UK.
