Dutch Profile is another arm of the Dutch Decals/Kits at War ranges, and concentrates specifically on Dutch subjects. This new, limited edition, sheet has markings for the Spitfire Mk.IX in post-WWII Royal Netherlands Air Force service. Seven options are available on the sheets and these feature both camouflaged and natural metal finished machines; all are listed as 322 Squadron, and date from their service in both the Dutch East Indies (modern Indonesia) and at Deelen and Soesterburg ABs in Holland. Full individual markings are included, as well as partial stencilling and one set of national markings.

As an added bonus, a final option on the sheet is for the new Trumpeter 1/32 Swordfish kit, and features an aircraft of 860 Sqn, Royal Netherlands navy, operating from the MAC ship MV Acavus in 1943-4. Only the individual markings are included - the assumption is that the kit markings are of sufficient quality to provide the rest…

The decals are printed by Decalprint in Holland, and are, for the most part, very nicely printed and in register. However, there is a slight overlap of the red and blue in the national markings that shows up rather prominently, and this unfortunately, does spoil the appearance of these essential items. It might be possible to cut up parts of an unused option to overlay the overlap, or you could try to match the blue with some paint.

My thanks to Dutch Profile for the review samples. Dutch Profile products are available directly from their website, FlightDecs in Canada, or from Hannants in the UK.
