The Bristol Blenheim IV had a rather complicated set of canopy/nose glazings, with many panes, and a scalloped area forward of the pilot’s position. All this leads to much heartburn for the modeler as he tries to correctly paint the framing, particularly in 1/72 scale. Eduard has come to the rescue with this new set intended for the recent MPM kit.

A single, small sheet of Eduard’s standard ‘kabuki tape’ material is included, and this has been die-cut with around 40 shapes for individual positioning onto the kit transparencies; gun turret and main wheel masks are also present. I did not have an MPM kit to hand, but I did have the Airfix kit, which although much older is still worthy of consideration.

As the Airfix kit has some minor inaccuracies around the nose, it is no surprise that these masks did not fit exactly and I needed to do a little trimming. However, the masks behaved perfectly while being positioned, and over-spraying with acrylic paints did not allow any paint to bleed underneath. I was very pleased with the results once the masks were removed; as such, I can recommend this set.

Our sincere thanks to Eduard for providing the review samples.
