The B-36 Peacemaker had always been one of my favorite aircraft ever since I had one fly low over my home back in the ‘50s. This was a rare event as it was making an emergency landing at Idlewild Airport (now JFK). When IPMS/USA offered this CD to review, I jumped at the chance to do it as this aircraft is probably the one that is under restoration at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Since I live not too far from Tucson (3:45 driving time), I was looking forward to seeing how this B-36 got there.

This CD consists of about 90 black-and-white photos that were taken during that period. The cars in the photos will actually show a time span in the 1970s. The pictures were of the aircraft sitting in an open field (maybe an airbase). They followed a progression of dismantling all parts of the B-36 and transporting it to another site. There were no captions and many of the photos were minor variations of others on the CD. There were several photos that were of folks working on this project and even dogs that probably belonged to those in the photos. The quality of the pictures was not up to today’s standards as they were taken with ASA 400 film from the 1950s.

Overall, this was a little disappointing to me. I had hoped for more. My thanks to Richard Marmo for the chance to review this disc – one for die-hard B-36 fans.
