Aeronautical devotees of the Great War (WWI) have long recognized the Windsock magazine as a tremendous source of information. This is the third issue where the pictures are presented in color, except for the period B&W aircraft photos. Within the 32 pages, one is presented with interviews, reviews and articles on specific aircraft with multi-view drawings and continuing series of articles.

We begin with George Haddow’s guide to WWI Austro-Hungarian naval aeroplanes No. 20 – KuK Kriegmarine Phonix fighters. (Phonix D.I, D.IIa and D.III with 3-view drawings and color artwork) Modeling Master Class is back with Lance Krieg Chapter 2, Engines (Part 2) a wonderful look at how to detail inline and rotary engines. A look at the rarely seen Albatros G.II/G.III twin engine bomber with 3-view drawings is a welcoming addition. A six page interview with Wingnut Wing’s Peter Jackson and Richard Alexander on making models and pictures of upcoming kits is a great read. A detailed photo spread (6 pages) on the 100% accurate Spad XIII repro built in America has to be seen to be appreciated, followed by the ever popular kit, decal and book reviews.

I highly recommend this issue and if you decide to buy it or want a subscription I would go to their website and check it out at: www.windsockdatafilespecial.co.uk

I want to thank IPMS/USA and Albatros Productions, LTD for the chance to review this magazine.
