This is a reprint of the original, and very welcome as the early Data Files are getting hard to find.

To begin with, the cover art is attractive and seductive! You will want to build this aircraft! Especially if you are a "buff" on it like I am.

James McCudden remarked that he was so cold in it that he didn't care whether or not if he was shot down. With 65 hrs in a PT-22 in Jan/Feb 1944 I can sympathize with him.

While most of the text of the booklet is devoted to the service life of the airplane, there are numerous photos of it with great close up shots of the rigging, and general structure of the airframe. The photos are a weathering dream for us weathering nuts!

The most interesting part for me was the last section devoted to the technical details of the airplane. For instance, I always wondered why cockpit shots never showed a throttle. There isn't any, the engine speed was controlled by a "Blip" switch! The engine always ran at full RPM! Now I know!

Another point cleared up for me: aileron control matured from spring return to bungee return to finally a balance cable! Now we all know!

That odd quadrant on the right side of the cockpit is an elevator "trimmer" What does it do? Read and find out.

The technical text and 1/48 scale drawings are among the finest I've come across.

Could you build decent DH-2 without this booklet? Of course you can. Could you build a better, even a superb one with it? You bet your "blippie" you could. I heartily recommend it.

Thanks to Albatros and IPMS/USA for the review sample.
