MSRP: :$4.95/ 3 oz can Review items courtesy of Testors (www.testors.com) While I was at the IPMS/National Convention this past summer in Anaheim, CA. I looked at the display of the new Testors One Coat Lacquer paints in spray cans. I liked the samples that they had on display as the colors were very vibrant. I was fortunate enough to have Dave Morrissette send me a set of six of these 3 oz. spray cans. The colors are metallic and reflect the wild colors of the seventies and eighties. The colors I received were Lime Ice, Inca Gold, Diamond Dust, DeJa Blue, Fiery Orange and Revving Red. For my test I used a white board so all the colors would have the same base. I masked off six squares and sprayed them directly from the cans. As I let each color dry (approximately 15 minutes) I masked that one and sprayed the next color. The paints took to masking without any liftoff. I was impressed with the coverage, the color vibrancy and the masking ability. I believe that a model car could be painted with one coat. I wouldn't spray it on too heavily as this may cause a run. Overall I liked these paints but I found one drawback, the smell. As expected from a lacquer the smell is powerful and I would recommend spraying them in a well ventilated area. I did mine in my garage with the door open. I would recommend these paints and only wished that they came in the solid colors used in earlier cars. I would love to see an early Ferrari Red or British Racing Green. One can only hope. I wish to thank Testors and IPMS/USA for allowing me to review these paints. |
