Not totally satisfied with all the other paints out there? Aerohobby is a new line of acrylic modeling paints. Each color comes in a 15ml white plastic bottle. The current lines include WWII Luftwaffe, RAF and USAAF colors along with a basic color line. Notes on the web site indicate a potential for WWII Russian and Japanese on the horizon too. Paint can be ordered individually from their web site above.

I painted the Eduard FW190A-8 that I previously reviewed - with this paint in several colors. My goal was to test coverage, spray ability, hand brushing and masking. To start the FW190 kit, the bottom of the cowling was yellow and I used Aerohobby RLM04 Gelb thinned with alcohol. I know the paints are listed as pre-thinned but I still thinned more - 4 parts paint to 1 part thinner. It sprayed well and didn't clog the airbrush tip. Coverage was OK but for a yellow was good. The paint dried to touch in less than half an hour but I let it sit overnight prior to masking it. I then used Tamiya tape to mask the yellow and painted the remainder of the plane. The colors all sprayed well and I had no issues. For the moment of truth, the masking was pulled from the yellow several days later and there was no lift off! Very good. Reading the Aerohobby site, they note that there is no need to prime the kit that there is an additive included to enhance adhesion to plastic.

I was impressed. Perhaps the most impressive thing is the amount of excellent paint you get for a reasonable price. Compared to Testors or Gunze (1/2 oz is $3 or $768/gallon), you get twice the paint at half the price! When I look around my hobby room at the amount of paint, this could pay for a lot more kits!

One other note, the Aerohobby web site is excellent. Not only is the paint listed but an excellent tip page for using the materials, a Forum to post notes and a gallery of completed models.

Most definitely recommended! My thanks to Aerohobby for the excellent work and great paints.
