Nazi Germany built, what they thought, was the ultimate and undefeatable battleship Bismarck. Her true potential was never tested and she was sunk very early in her career.  If the Bismarck lived longer, what would have been the outcome of D-Day?  Or possibly even World War II?   One can only offer guesses and speculation.

Trumpeter has come forward with all new tool 1/700 scale model of this infamous ship.  Molded in light gray and the lower hull is already colored in hull red.  The model can be built as a full hull or a water line example. Parts count is 281 with a large number of those dedicated to the many guns that bristled the ship. The decks all have delicate planking detail.  The fore, mid and aft are separate parts for more realism.  All of the motor launches and life boats are molded as separate pieces with high levels of detail.  Included is a Arado Ar196-A floatplane complete with decals and full painting instructions.  All parts show little or no flash and small sprue gates to assist in the minimal clean up of the small pieces.  The decal sheet includes swastikas in two parts.  This is a much better solution than deleting them all together.  The black and white camouflage stripes on the hull sides are decals.  But the black and white areas on the superstructure must be painted.  The decals give you a great starting point.

This is a great model of a very important ship in Hitler’s navy.  Some modeling skills would be helpful especially with the high number of small parts and the painting.  Highly recommended.
