This must be an old ESCI mold.  I don’t ever remember Italeri making a kit of this subject or in this scale.

This kit comes packaged in a sturdy attractive flip-top cardboard box.  The top of the box has an artist’s rendition of the cannon and troops on the move.  The bottom of the box is used as a painting guide and instruction manual.  The sides are adorned with pictures of other kits in this series and scale.  The painting guide only refers to Model Master enamel and acrylic paints.  It is too bad that Italeri didn’t follow the box art more carefully in relation to the horses.  I’ll explain that comment later.

Open the box and you might be disappointed.  Inside are four sprues of tan rubber plastic parts.  One sprue contains parts for the limber, cannon, drivers, and one wheel.  The other three identical sprues consist of two horses, one horse rider, one wheel, and the tack for the horses.

The parts are nicely detailed in some places but, due to the molding process (I believe), are very simple in others.    For the $29.00 price tag, I can’t see many people rushing out to acquire one of these kits.  However, if you are a Napoleonic War buff then this just might be a kit for you to get your hands on and make something beautiful out of.
