The USAAF Fighter Pilot is one of the nicest figures I have ever had the pleasure to build. The sculpting by Mike Good is very sharp and clean. Being a resin figure, there were no noticeable seems to fill or file. The pose is very lifelike and natural in appearance. He carries all the necessary gear a pilot of this era would have. I especially like the way the parachute hangs from his lower backside just like the real one would. There are no instructions on the assembly of the figure but you do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what goes where. I used ACC glue to assemble it. The figure includes two straps like pieces that I had no idea what they were, until I noticed the flaps on the parachute straps on the backside of the figure. I assume these straps go there – anyway, it looks like they do and they fit. There are no painting instructions either. There is a 1" x 3" color photo included in the package that is fairly good for this purpose. I wish they would have given another view of the back of the figure, too.

I washed the pilot in soap and warm water to remove any residual oils left from casting. Then I primed it with Mr. Surfacer 1200. I used oils for the face using Verlinden’s method on face painting. Had to wait a couple of weeks for the oils to dry and finished the rest of the figure with Model Masters brand paints. I thoroughly enjoyed building and painting the figure and would highly recommend it to anyone building 1/32 WWII USAAF Aircraft. It is a welcome addition and enhances any plane it is posed next to.
