While the everyday soldier fought the war it was the Generals that called the shots. Tamiya's latest release in their 1/48th scale series gives you likenesses of five prominent Generals.

What you get is that in the small cardboard box is TWO identical sprues with the likeness of Field Marshal Rommel, Field Marshal Montgomery, General MacArthur, General Patton and his boss, General Eisenhower. The painting instructions are on the back of the box with pictures of some built figures. Headgear emblems are shown on the box as well so you can detail the figures.

The faces are a little on the soft side but each individual general is identifiable by either a pose or a character look. I found myself thinking that Patton looked a little thin, but then I realized that I was comparing him to George C. Scott. Oops. All the figures are broken down with separate arms and headgear. Each figure is given a base in case you want to display them on that but they will stand up without it. The poses are relaxed without being stoic. The mold seam lines are restrained and easy to clean up. The arms and headgear are on natural seam lines so they will not need any clean up.

With two chances to get it right these figures represent a good value for the money. These figures are a great way to practice your figure painting skills and add a lot to your diorama possibilities.
