Tamiya have really outdone themselves this time. This is one of the finest sets of figures in 1:48 scale that I have ever done. It is of the German WW II Africa Corps and is as complete as a modeler could want.

To begin with the set contains eight figures which are molded beautifully. Every detail is there in each figure. I was especially pleased to see a figure of Marshal Erwin Rommel included. In addition to Rommel there are seven other Africa Corps infantrymen in various poses. Two of these are in a seated position with one at a field radio.

There is very little cleanup on the figures and only a few accessories to be added to the figures. The fit of the body parts is excellent especially that of Rommel posed with his hands behind his back.

Also included are a tent, Jerry cans, a radio and oil drums. These are very well cast also.

I assembled most of the figures and then painted them with Andrea acrylic paints after priming with a light grey automotive primer. I used a desert yellow for the uniforms with a medium brown wash and a light sand drybrushing. I liked the effect. I only painted three figures for this review but I will be painting the rest to complete a diorama that I have planned.

Overall, I would highly recommend this set to anyone that has an interest in the N. Africa Campaign of WW II. If you don't have the room for a 1:35 scale diorama, this is an answer to your prayers.

I wish to thank Tamiya for providing this review sample and IPMS/USA for giving it to me to build.
