[review image] PJ Productions specializes in seated pilot figures with an extensive line in 1/48 scale. Recently, they have begun to venture into the larger 1/32nd scale and now present a WWII German seated pilot. The kit is comprised of 9 pieces of cream colored resin. The parts exhibited a minor amount of flash and there were seam lines present on a number of parts indicating the use of a two part mold. None of these required more than a few swipes from a medium to fine sanding stick, though.

The parts were easy to remove from their casting blocks and the attachment points were placed in areas where they were easy to get at with files and sanding sticks. I had all the parts cleaned up in a matter of minutes.

The kit offers two pose options. The first is portrays a pilot in flight helmet wearing an oxygen mask. A separate oxygen hose is included. An alternate head and right arm allows you to model a bare headed pilot doffing his officer's cap. While certainly unique, this pose calls out for a second ground crew figure holding the pilots flight helmet preparing to swap out the head gear. Unfortunately, I have not seen such a figure offered in the PJ productions line-yet. (Hint, hint.) A color painting guide is including for both poses. Nice!

The quality of the sculpting in general is first rate. The face of the alternate head is excellent. Sculpting a realistic face is one of the toughest modeling challenges and can make or break a figure. In this case, the facial features are quite realistically rendered.

My only issue with the figure is the head maybe slightly too small for the body. It may be that the legs are slightly over scale in comparison to the torso. This isn't a major issue since the legs would be largely invisible when the figure is installed in the cockpit.

All in all this is a good looking figure that will certainly add life to any large scale Luftwaffe fighter or bomber. It should be a treat to paint.
