1/32 US Navy Pilot "Korean War"

Kit Number 321105

MSRP: €10.50 Euros

This figure represents a United States Navy aviator in the “Corean War” (“Korean War”?) of the early 1950s.  I guess by the lightweight appearance of the flying suit that the period would be summertime.

The pilot is cast in pale, cream colored resin with five parts: the two arms, the flier’s oxygen mask, the head and the rest of the figure.  A decal is also provided along with a front and back photo of the completed figure to give a depiction of the painting and the decal placement.  There was very little flash and it cleaned up easily with a hobby knife.

The head settled into the neck opening without much bother at all.  The arms can be oriented by using the matching folds of the flight suit as a guide.  I still needed a bit of filler, but the join is partially concealed by edge of the flotation vest.

The aviator is posed as he climbs aboard his aircraft.  If you wanted to cut out a handhold or foothold access in a plane’s fuselage, this could fit right in.  The painting suggestions for the helmet, suit and boots match the details recalled by one of our IPMS chapter members, who was wore wings of gold in the early 1960s.
