The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 is the latest kit from Revell of an American street muscle car.

This is a nice kit of a current muscle car. The kit is molded in dark grey, white, clear, and chrome plated plastic. Clear plastic parts for the headlight covers, fog lights, and backup lights. Tail light lenses are transparent red and the tires are vinyl. This kit contains 92 parts. The parts are in seven bags and there is a protective sheet for the decals. The decals allow for several options for exterior color as the racing stripes are white or black and three different colors for the front and rear Viper badges are provided.

The molding of this kit is crisp with very little flash that is easily removed. The ejector pin marks are mostly in areas that are not visible. The body is assembled from eight pieces due to the complexity of the prototype body. The suspension is well detailed, but much of the detail disappears when the body and chassis are assembled.

I painted the chassis parts with semi-gloss black spray paint from the auto parts store. Suspension components were painted with Model Master aluminum. The anti-roll bars, shocks, and half-shafts were painted gloss black. Coil over springs were dry brushed with aluminum.
Aluminum was used on the engine, transmission, and the rather complex exhaust system. Some Last Detail black was applied to the oil pan and intake manifold. The holes in the back of the alternator and oil filter were filled before painting. Valve covers were finished with Insignia Red. Engine compartment details were highlighted with gloss black and brass paint.

The body is seven pieces with a separate hood. The body attaches to the chassis on all four edges of the chassis. I painted the body with Tamiya rattle can dark blue lacquer over white primer. I had some difficulty getting the paint to dry to a gloss finish, but the finish polished out nicely.

There were a couple of areas that were a little difficult. The chassis bar with the front shocks did not fit well with the front of the engine. Most of this is hidden by the air inlet. Rear bumper was a tight fit. This made the alignment with the lower rear body difficult.

This kit has a lot of decals. There are 11 on the dashboard and shifter! Decals are provided for all of the Viper badges and scripts, including the valve covers.

This is a very nice kit. It builds up into a great replica of the Dodge Viper. If you would like to build a model of a modern American muscle car, this is worth a look. Revell did an excellent job on this kit.

Thanks to Revell and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this kit.
