The world of commercial airlines just got a little bit littler (smaller?-ed.)…. Is that a word? Anyway, Hasegawa has a limited new release of the AIR DO Boeing 737-500. With a length of 102ft and wingspan of 95 feet and passenger load of 126 the 500 is the smallest in the 737 family.

This kit is really fun to build. It has top and bottom fuselage halves molded in white , ballast weight, and 6 sprues grey styrene of parts the 500 goes together effortlessly. All parts dry fit together very nice with absolutely no alignment problems. I found that I only had glue the top and bottom fuselage halves together fill the miniscule seam. Everything else just snapped together. There are some engraved panel lines that appear a little thick but so what, again, this kit is a lot of fun to build!

The kit gives you some options too. You can display the kit on its landing gear or you can use the display stand. I opted for the latter since I never get a chance to do in-flight models. Next you have the choice of decals. You can either paint all the colors or just add the black dot side window decals or you can use the decals and be done with it. I opted to use the full color decals. They snugged down excellent and had no problems whatsoever. When complete the tiny jet looks very majestic on its display stand and it was a lot of fun to build. I'm kind of partial to building military jets so this was a welcome departure from the norm.

I would most highly recommend this kit to beginners and master alike. Thank you so much to Dragon Models USA, Hasegawa and IPMS my copy of this kit.
