Each time I review an Attack kit I am impressed by how they are improving. This kit of the SU-7UM is by far the best they have produced. The SU-7 series of Soviet aircraft happen to be one of my favorites. The kit I got to review is one that I hadn't seen before. It is the two seat version. Attack produces two other single seat versions of the SU-7.

Upon opening the box I found more parts than I was used to seeing in a kit in this scale. To my surprise there was a full interior. The two instrument panels were miniscule as were the seats and side consoles. I painted them the standard Russian interior color of blue/green. The seats I painted in dark gray and black. Since this aircraft is so long, I had to add a lot of weight to the nose before I closed up the fuselage. It is unfortunate that with such good detail in the cockpit, not much can be seen once the fuselage is closed up.

The part fit was very good so there was no need to trim and fit. The canopy fit nicely. It is a good thing that the canopy was scribed, because it made the complex framing easier to paint. I went to the internet to get the correct outline just to make sure I had it all right.

I primed the aircraft with Alclad gloss black primer and then airbrushed it with Alclad polished aluminum. This turned out to be almost chrome so it was back to the internet for the correct color. I finally settled on Alclad duraluminium. This turned out to be spot on.

I gave the engraved panel lines a wash of acrylic black. I then added the fine landing gear. I was happy to see some detail in the wheel wells.

The decals provided are for five different countries but I chose the Russian ones of just stars and numbers. They are very thin and go on easily but you must remember to use micro set in order to be able to position them correctly. The instructions state the correct camouflage for the different markings.

Also included are many weapons stores for the different countries.

The instructions are of the blow up variety but are very clear and easy to understand. This model could probably be completed in several hours. I took a little longer due to using the wrong aluminum color.

Overall I had a ball building this SU-7UM. I look forward to building the other SU-7's offered by Attack.

I would highly recommend this kit as it is an easy but accurate build and looks great in my showcase.

I want to thank Attack and John Noack for giving me this fine kit to review.
