When this series of kits came up for review availability, I thought was a great opportunity to team up with my kids (both girls) and build a model together. Upon arrival and the announcement to my kids that they could build these kits with my help, Sofia (built the 109) couldn't wait to get her hands on it. Although we didn't have time to build it that day, she brought out of her closet 2 other kits that we had yet to work on. On the other hand Olivia, age 10 (pictured above) has a lot of activities going that keep her pretty busy. But after a little encouragement we finally got her started.

The 1/100 EZ Build Series from Accurate Miniatures is just that. Right out of the box, you get a fully painted representation of the Messerschmitt BF-109F and P-51D Mustang. I didn't check out the accuracy of these kits as I feel it detracts from the intent, which in my opinion is that they are to be built as is and to have fun.

Construction of the kit is straightforward, following the instructions on the back of the box. With regards to the instructions, I feel that a larger version of the instructions could have been included inside the package making it easier for kids to follow along. Basic modeling tools are the only things needed: sanding sticks, sprue cutters and glue. I opted to allow the girls to use the Touch and Flow applicator for their builds.

The construction of the BF-109 was straight forward throughout the whole process. Sofia had minor difficulties during assembly only when it came to inserting some of the tabs into the slots at the attachment points. Some filling/sanding was required to make the tabs fit.

The BF-109 kit overall fit is very good. Once assembled, seams are minimal, considering it's a pre-painted kit. I found the kit to be of easy skill level (with supervision) for a 7yr old and a good way to introduce them to the use of glue in model building.

Just like the BF-109, the construction of the P-51D Mustang was straightforward. Again, like Sofia, Olivia only had minor difficulties during assembly where the tabs needed some work to fit them into the appropriate slots. The two wing halves did take a little more effort to get them to go together, but nothing a big helping hand couldn't take care of. The fuselage joint on the P-51 was a little more noticeable compared to that of the 109. Again, I found the kit to be of easy skill level (with supervision) for a 10yr old

My daughters and I would like to thank Accurate Miniatures and IPMS USA for the opportunity to review these EZ Build Kits.
