Staying on a steady roll, Loren Perry has released a 1/700 detail set for Trumpeter's 1/700 USS SARATOGA CV-3. Gold Medal Models PE detail set for Trumpeter's 1/700 SARATOGA is a match in the level of detail as his larger set. It is not identical but still packed with tremendous detail in a 5 x 3-1/2 inch sheet. The fret is etched in .003in stainless steel for greater rigidity in this small scale. Like the larger set, this set is matched to the dimensions of the Trumpeter kit and even in 1/700 the fret is clearly engraved with the identification of each detail, so there is no guessing or hunting around. There are a lot of details in this set. Here is a breakdown of the details you will find in this set: · Plenty of liferails, many pre-measured · Inclined and vertical ladders · Watertight doors, both open and closed · Finely detailed flight deck nets · Replacement 3-bladed ship's propellers (the kit incorrectly provide 4-bladed) · Replacement understructure supports for the flight deck and superstructure · Replacement boat deck supports · Replacement yardarms · Aircraft details for 6 aircraft for 4 different aircraft: BFC, F3F, SBU, and TG2 · DF Loops · Gun details 5in 25cal guns · 8in gun turret detail · Cable reels · Flight deck details for the arresting gear, barrier, palisade and aft elevator safety rail · Boat details and boat cradles · Davit details · Crane details · Funnel bars · Liferings · And even details for the bridge interior This is a "one-stop-shopping" set, you will need nothing else to finish the model. As a bonus there are more details for boats than offered in the larger scale. Bottom line - this set is a must if you want to build Trumpeter's SARATOGA into a mind boggling and eye-catching model. No other set is this well engineered. The price is a bargain given the detail provided. Strongly recommended.
