I would like to take this opportunity to say that Eduard makes some really fine photo etch kits for Modelers to enhance their projects. I received a rather large envelope with the name 'BIG ED' on the front. Inside are 4 individual packages, each covering a different aspect of the kit. The sets included are as follows: railings, floor plate, general parts for upgrades, and a wheel mask set. Quite impressive I must say. Most parts are easily constructed due to their size. There are quite a few sub-assemblies to complete some sections but that is to be expected when using photo etched parts. The instruction sheets will point out what to trim off for replacement which is easy enough. Care must be taken when it is time for placing the photo etch as they are not always placed in the same spot as the removed section. The only issue I had with this detail product is to be careful when replacing the hinges for the catwalk as some need relocating and, if you so chose to move them, you will need to grind and clear some pieces of the bolted edge strapping. Your choice. You could purchase these packages separately if you wish, but dollar for dollar, this BIG ED package cannot be beat. Dragon’s 1/35 scale 'Karl' is a nice kit and builds nicely, but, if you want a model that looks more impressive and with greater dimension, then I recommend this BIG ED kit strongly. |
