These are the final two decal sets in the Yellowhammer Models series commemorating the "final appearance" of the Navy's venerable F-14 Tomcat at the "Tomcat Sunset" celebration held at NAS Oceana, VA in early October, 2006. After making the Tomcat's final traps and launches from the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) , these VF-31 "Tomcatters" birds served as the ultimate Tomcat guard of honor for the final retirement ceremonies by the US Navy just prior to the few remaining Tomcats going to the boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB or various museums around the country. YHD48036 - PART 2 - MSRP $ 14.99 Part 2 offers a choice of Cdr. Jim "Puck" Howe's aircraft (NAS Oceana, Sept 8th, 2006) and Cdr. Greg Knepper (also NAS Oceana, Sept 20th, 2006). Howe's aircraft sports the red vertical and ventral fins, emblazoned with the bomb carrying "Felix the Cat" cartoon, while Knepper's machine carries the stylized twin tail, pistol packing, Tomcat showing the active dates 1970-2006, as well as the Grumman logo. This aircraft was equipped with a Lantirn pod. YHD48037 - PART 3 - MSRP $ 14.99 Part 3 offers a choice between the lo-vis mount of Cdr Curt "Opie" Seth (NAS Oceana, Sept 20th, 2006) and a black tailed "CAG" bird flown by Capt Dan "Dix" Dixon (NAS Oceana Sept 8th, 2006). This sheet also includes a bonus of "PYN-UP" flame decals for placement on the fuel tanks. There are several options included here. As expected these sheets are gorgeously printed in perfect register and color and would make an ideal addition to anybody's stash.
