Twobobs usually keeps us up to date on modern US jets, but this time we get some specialty markings for the Swedish Gripen. While this jet hasn't been in service that long, there have already been several milestones set and this sheet provides for some of them.

The instructions have full color profiles showing the decal locations, FS numbers, and pictures of the actual aircraft and a history of each plane. The FS numbers also include matches to Testors, Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo, and Xtracrylics paints. There are a couple of kit suggestions and aftermarket stuff from Eduard. As usual, my only complaint on the instructions is the reference pictures are very small. One other thing is that there is only detailed info on 3 of the 4 options so a quick email to Bob Sanchez and here is the info for that last bird:
· 1000 flight hours markings
· Serial number: 39131
· Fin number: 131
· Overall markings are in Swedish ("FARA" on the air intakes and so on)
· History: In October 2002 JAS 39A became the first Gripen to exceed 1000 flight hours. To celebrate this, the text "100 Fh" was applied on both sides of the fin. The text was black. Font was Times New Roman 19.5cm high. The ordinary black 72 company cat scratch mark was already painted on the fin tip.

How's that for service?

Some of the markings are made up of multiple layers when necessary to avoid registration issues.

If you like the new Swedish fighter or specialty markings are your thing you want to pick up a copy before Bob runs out.

I want to thank Bob Sanchez at Twobobs for supplying the decals.
