With the Polish showing off the first of their new F-16C Block 52s and F-16D Block 52s it was inevitable that a manufacturer would come out with a decal sheet covering these aircraft. Poland will eventually receive 48 C models and 12 D models. Two Bobs has released the markings in two sets, one in 1/48 and a dual set of 1/72 and 1/32 decals.

Two Bobs provides you options for 6 different aircraft, 3 F-16CJs and 3 F-16DJs, with sufficient markings for two complete aircraft. Included is a full set of stencils, which for these Polish aircraft are in English. These are not colorful aircraft, so with the exception of the national markings and the word "Jastrzab", the rest of the markings are low visibility. To avoid registry issues, these markings are printed separately, so the modeler will need to carefully overlay and align them. The combined 1/72 and 1/32 sheet is not large enough to hold all of the required markings, so a smaller supplemental sheet includes the walkway lines in 1/32. The decals are crisply printed by Microscale.

The instruction sheet/placement guide is typical Two Bobs – lots of information cleanly crammed onto a double-sided 8.5 x 11 sheet. The front includes two side views for both the single-seater and dual-seater with locating information for all decals. Along the left and lower edge are walk around photos with pertinent marking information. Also there is a list of available kits and accessories. The rear side has underside and overhead views for both aircraft. It includes the color callouts by FS number as well as four brands of paint: Testors MM, Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo, and Xtracrylics. Also is a list of side number options by aircraft type as well as a brief background and technical information. Here are some minor shortcomings in the sheet:
  • [review image]There is no clear indication or picture of how the Jastrzab decals overlay; so you will need a clear reference. The white should lead the gray. Also "Jastrzab" was not added to the aircraft until some time after delivery.
  • The canopy has black seals. This is not indicated in the instructions. I would have liked to see decals for the aft seals that have gray dots – hard for the modeler to replicate in 1/72 and 1/48.
  • All planes will need the extended parabrake housing.
This is a nice comprehensive set that is well researched, presented and printed. If you are looking for something a little different, this is an attractive scheme and would be an interesting juxtaposition next to a Polish Mig-29 or SU-22.

Thanks to Bob Sanchez and TwoBobs for the review sample
