What is there to say about Twobobs decals that you probably don’t already know?  These decals are renowned for the research that goes into each sheet.  This usually comes from the men and women who fly, fix or support the actual planes.

The instructions have full color profiles showing the decal locations, FS numbers, pictures of the actual aircraft and a history of the craft.  There also is a kit suggestion (although they will work with any kits in this scale) and aftermarket ideas.  My only complaint on the instructions is the reference pictures are, by necessity, very small.

While I didn’t have a kit to test the decals on, everyone that I have asked who has used them say they work very well and are compatible with the Microscale System (who actually prints the decals for them).

The Weasel set includes nose art and serials for 5 aircraft from 1972 but only enough tail codes and markings to finish 2 complete airframes.  These carry the normal SEA camouflage.

The Shogun sheet has full markings for 2 aircraft with some jazzy tail art.  They depict aircraft of the winning team from the Tactical Reconnaissance Air Meets in ’85 and ’86.  They carry the wrap around Euro I camouflage.

My only concern with the decals is something that others really like.  Certain decals are made up of multi layers to avoid registration issues.  While I can see how some people like this option, for my fumbling fingers, any extra decals is asking for trouble.  Looks like I just need to get with the times.

If you like Phantoms, go out and get your hands on these sheets and add a couple more to your build list.

I want to thank Bob at Twobobs for supplying the decals.  Make sure you check his site out at www.twobobs.net.
