[review image] This is a most unusual book. It covers a subject that is not often discussed. The authors, Peter W. Merlin and Tony Moore are known as the X-Hunters. They have explored over 100 crash sites of exotic aircraft from Edwards AFB and Area 51.

Together they have recovered parts of supersonic rocket planes, stealthy spy craft and vehicles that have reached the edge of space. Each story in this comprehensive book details the history of these unusual craft and the men that flew them and their crashes and sites.

The "X-Hunters" have examined the causes of each crash and use the unusual technique of showing the crash site when the crash occurred and how it is today. I have found this book most interesting especially with the accompanying photos of not just the sites but parts of these craft that were found on their quests. I would recommend it to anyone that has even a passing interest in the X-Planes and their fates.

This hardcover book has 289 photos both in color and B/W. and may be available through Specialty Press at www.specialtypress.com or at 1-800-895-4585.

I wish to thank Specialty Press for giving IPMS this fine book to review and to IPMS/USA for giving it to me.
