In keeping with the tradition of the rest of the Classic Publications Jagdwaffe series, Sea Eagles display the typical format of the rest of the series. This 96 page book is softbound with plenty of large clear black and white photos along with plenty of color profiles. Many of the profiles show the unique airplanes used by the Kriegsmarine. There are a few color photos as well interspersed throughout the book. The style of writing is easy to read and as always informative. Typical of the series is the limited amount of text, just enough to convey the information and not wordy. Every photo is accompanied by a caption that really adds to the Sea Eagles story.

Picking up in 1939 the Kriegsmarine had little thought of using airplanes in an anti-shipping role or in a rescue mission. This changed dramatically with the instigation of hostilities. The Kreigsmarine quickly became adept at using sea planes for rescue missions and for torpedo attacks. Using unique aircraft such as the He-59 and He-60, as well as, more recognizable aircraft as the He-111 and Ju-88, the small force developed tactics and developed proficiency quickly. The book is filled with plenty of inspirational photos for the modeler, aircraft from the Ar-196 to FW-200 Condors in and out of the water. The photos are ideal for weathering your models with some excellent all around shots of all the key aircraft.

One of the things that I like about the whole series is the first person accounts that add color to the text. In the photos you are treated to unique weapons, such as the torpedoes and Luftmine (air mines).

Like the rest of the series this is a very good book about a portion of the Luftwaffe/ Kriegsmarine that has not been typically covered sufficiently. This book is indicative of the whole series and is a great low cost research tool for the modeler and historian.

Highly recommend this and all of the books of this series.
