Those of you that build aircraft will be quite familiar with the EXCELLENT series of books titled "Warbird Tech" published by Specialty Press. Those books basically take the reader deep into the detail of many subjects like the P-51 Mustang or F-86 Sabre Jet.

Well, Specialty Press has now turned their attention to a whole new and greatly welcome area in their new series, "MuscleCar Tech". The subject of this issue is the 1967 to 1972 Chevrolet Camaro. This is the second subject in what this reviewer hopes is a long line of publications.

The first two generations of the legendary Camaro are covered in six separate chapters, one devoted to each year. Each chapter is broken down into subjects that include Chassis and Body, Engine and Transmission options, and Steering, Suspension and Brakes. Further details include the differences in the Z28, Rally Sport, and Super Sport models - for example, the fact that 396 cu.in models had a blacked-out taillight panel. Or the proper gauge clusters that would be only on the highly potent Z28 models.

But the true wealth of written knowledge included in this volume would be moot to the modeler without the over 300 clear, sharp and full color photographs included here. Very little has escaped the attention of the author. There are incredible detail shots of the interior, including the areas not normally seen in generic car maker shots or monthly magazine articles.

Want to know what the dome lamp looks like on a 1969 model? It's there! How about the location of the gas cap or jacking instruction trunk label on the 1972? Look no further. Photos of dash vents, door panel detail, and instrument clusters abound. Underbody shots include exhaust, engine and suspension in detail. Under-hood shots are very clear and include little things like the steering box, exhaust manifolds and even air-conditioning plumbing and labels. The list goes on and on.

This 112 page soft bound book is a handy 8-1/2 by 11 size. With sturdy covers and strong binding this thing will stand up to many hours of scoping out the little details for your next super project or just dreaming about a ride down Woodward avenue.

Highly Recommended.

Many thanks to Specialty Press and IPMS for the review sample.
