Another in the continuing series of fine reference works for early aircraft from the folks at Albatros Productions, Ltd. This volume covers the camouflage patterns of early Nieuports of 1916. The author, Alan Toelle, claims to be responsible for introducing the "four color hypothesis" relative to early Nieuports and sets forth in this article to demonstrate that "...it is possible to form some generalized conclusions regarding the camouflaged aeroplanes." This is an interesting discussion, even though leaning on black and white photographs of the period, and will influence my Eduard Nieuport build's paint scheme.

There are also quality photos of the only surviving Nieuport "Bebe", N976, on display at the Musee de l'Air et de l"Espace at Le Bourget. This focus on Nieuports includes a review of the Special Hobby 1/32 kit.

Also covered are RE8's of No. 4 Squadron RFC/RAF in part one of a series; Brandenberg Type W18 Naval Aeroplane with scale drawings and nice color prints; an article on the Russian Lebed XII and a slew of other WWI and early 'aeroplane' photos and tidbits.

Another volume for the shelves of all you WWI and early aeroplane modelers.

Thanks to Albatros Productions, Ltd. for the review copy.
