This is a periodical devoted entirely to World War I aviation and the modeler who specializes in those aircraft. Photos of museum quality models are followed by an article dealing with streaked camouflage schemes carried by some Fokker fighters during the war. Another article shows some of the World War I replica aircraft that were displayed at an air show in New Zealand. There is more photography of these aircraft at the end of the magazine. An article on the Mickl-Offag Type H floatplane fighter that was operated by the Austro-Hungarian Navy provides not only period photos, but a color four view and 3 view line drawings of the aircraft in 1/72 scale. If you've never heard of the French Levasseur SAB C.1 fighter prototype, you can get a good account of the aircraft in the magazine, and you'll know all you'll ever want to know about the type. A number of publications are also reviewed.

For the modeler, an extensive list of kit reviews both of standard kits and exotic resin kits is helpful in acquainting the reader with some of the new kits on the market. Most of the reviews appear to be of the "in the box" type, but the information would be helpful in selecting new kits to purchase. Finally, a full build review of the Roden Zeppelin-Staaken R. VI describes the ordeal of building this monster in 1/72 scale (The reviewer built this kit a few months back, and I agree with Windsock's reviewer on the major issues with the kit.) In addition, three good color profile views are given for the new Roden kit of the B.E. 2C.

If you are into World War I aviation, this is a good publication. I would highly recommend it. Order it from windsockdatafilespecials.co.uk

Thanks to Albatros Productions and John Noack for the review copy.
