With the Eduard Royal Class Bf110 coming out, the timing of this book is absolutely perfect. The Bf 110 was designed primarily as a heavy fighter whose mission was to escort bombers to target and back. In this role, it was not particularly successful against the smaller and more the maneuverable allied planes. The Battle of Britain showed that succinctly. That did not stop production of the plane at all and from the Battle of Britain "C" variants came the D and E variants. John Vasco's book covers the C through E variants in detail.

[review image] The book is highly detailed and starts with a quick chapter on the development of the plane and the "B" version. It then proceeds to go through all seven "C" variants, all seven "D" variants and two of the "E" variants. There is also a section on the early night fighters, the Bf 110 that was modified for towing, a camouflage and marking sections and an additional two chapters on servicing the plane and its ability to carry cargo.

Each section is well written but what makes the book a "must have" are the over 300 black and white and color photos and diagrams. Many of these have never published before and the color ones are magnificent. Many of these show captured aircraft. Mr. Vasco has looked under every stone to show the most perfect pictures of each type and the work paid off.

Each variant is described with the variations being each variant shown clearly. I can't say enough about this book. If you're building a Bf110, you need to get this book. Most definitely recommended. My thanks to Marie Norton and Karin Hill at Specialty Press for the chance to review this definitive volume
