Being the avid military aircraft historian that I think I am when I read Ed Kinney's review of the The Modern Hog Guide - The A-10 Warthog Exposed and The Modern Viper Guide - The F-16C/D Exposed by Jake Melampy, I was totally impressed by what I had read and seen on this review site and I thought." Man how did this guy get so up close to these jets". So when I was given the chance to review my own copy of the next publication of what will hopefully be a series, I jumped at the chance. I anxiously waited for it to arrive and I thought arrogantly," How great could it be? I've already got an entire library of really great F-15 books." Well, let me tell you something, this is the best F-15 book I have ever read on subject matter. The average modeler will have to look no further than here. I'll even throw this out there; the master modeler will have to look no further either. It covers mostly the f-15A, B, C, D and E in excellent detail and compares the differences in cockpits and avionics, weapons, forward, mid, aft fuselage sections and landing gear in detail. All kinds of interesting detail like the fact that the tail hook on the A through D models were flush with the fuselage and the E version is extended down by two inches to make room for avionics? Did you know that? Me either. Basically I think it should be called the "Rivet Counters Guide to the F-15." (sorry, a little judges' humor )

But seriously the book came with a nice semi-hard glossy front and back cover and 188 pages of full color photographs and drawings to satisfy even the most discriminating Eagle critic. This book is a "Must Have" for you collection. I think I'm gonna pull out that old Tamiya Strike Eagle and have a go at it. My thanks to Reid Air Publications and IPMS for the chance to review this excellent book.
