This is another of what we can hope will be a long line of comparisons of various combat aircraft. The few titles that I have seen seem to be well researched and presented. There are plenty of good photos -- some that I have never see before. There are also several color renditions of the cockpits of the two subject aircraft as seen from the pilots perspective. There are charts showing the leading aces of the ETO of both sides and charts listing the units using the P-47 in the Eighth and Ninth Air Forces.

There is a chapter devoted to the development of the P-47 and the Bf 109 G and K variants and a chapter of technical specifications of the two aircraft. This book isn’t (I believe) really geared to the modeler, but will appeal more to the history and data buff in most modelers.

I enjoyed reading the book and recommend it to all modelers, especially new modelers who need up-to-date information on the subjects they are modeling. Modeling and history-related material have come a long way in the last thirty plus years.

Thanks to Osprey Publishing for the review copy.
