This is the newest in the modelling series books from Osprey, dealing with the Bf-109F and early G models. The author is Brett Green, who is the editor for one of the premiere online modeling sites (Hyperscale). The book is softbound with color profiles, kit listings, kit summaries, production variants and characteristics, and construction photos.

The book deals mostly with five different detail builds in all across the major scales. Camouflage schemes, and markings from the Western Desert to The Russian Steppes. Kits used are Fine Molds 1/72 Bf-109 family, Airfix's 1/48 Bf-109F, Hasegawa 1/48&1/32 Bf-109G, and Falcon 1/48 Bf-109G-12 conversion.

Each kit is given a preview and review (pros and cons). What detail sets were used if any, markings, camouflage schemes, and what paints were used. The book also shows how to remove kit plastic for resin parts, masking canopies, and painting, detailing and weathering.

Included are a couple of pages in color of hidden details of the Bf-109G-6, nice touch. At the end of the book there is a color chart with a note on the back of the page for each color that states what RLM color it is and what part on the aircraft it was used.

This is a nice quality book and would be a good reference on the Friedrich and Gustav versions of the Messerschmitt Bf-109 for everyone's library.

I highly recommend this book from the beginner thru experienced modeler. Because when it comes to modeling, you can teach old dog new tricks.

This book can be purchased online at www.ospreypublishing.com and your local hobby shops.

My thanks go out to Osprey for this review copy.
