This recent addition to the Ginter line of Naval aircraft references consists of 77 pages on the Temco Pinto. Coverage of this little-known training jet is thorough, as is the norm for this series. The reader is taken on a tour beginning with the origins of the manufacturer, through the genesis of the design and the military competitions involved with the development, to the testing and subsequent service of the aircraft. The author concludes the discussion of the airplane by discussing much of the subsequent civilian use which the jets saw after being retired from Navy service and proposed follow-on developments to the airplane which never saw use. Finally, there is coverage of the kits produced of the Pinto, few as there were.

The front and rear outside covers are the only color pictures provided, but inside are many clear black-and-white photos. Aside from one image that showed quite a bit of pixilation, the photos were of very good quality. Also inside are the line-drawing excerpts from the pilot's and maintenance manuals, which are standard fare for this book series, and first-person accounts from pilots who tested and trained on the Pinto.

Overall this is a fine reference on an obscure but interesting airplane. Maybe with the availability of this reference, some manufacturer will consider a new 1/72 or 1/48 kit of this little machine. Thanks to Steve Ginter Publications for providing the review sample.
