The latest magazine from the UK, Air Modeller is a bi monthly magazine published by AFV Modeller Ltd. This softbound magazine obviously focuses on aviation subjects.

Issue 17 of this bi monthly magazine contains one of the greatest aircraft ever flown, the X-15. The models are represented on plain backgrounds so that there are no distractions from the kits. This is a very nice touch. The pages are presented on high quality weight paper with large and clear photos of the builds.

In addition to the absolutely fabulous model of the X-15 there is a history and reference photo section to accompany this record setter. A photo report of Aviation Nation at Nellis Air Force Base includes some splendid photos of the F-23 as well as other aircraft. Franck Oudin builds up a gorgeous P-40N, the highlight of this article is the weathering tips for this South West Pacific Aussie fighter. It really looks realistic with its faded paint and wear. A detailing project on the Ju-87D is the next project. The Japanese are represented in the next installment with a build of the Nakajima J1N1 Gekko. This beautiful night fighter is expertly constructed by Peter Brezvsky. The new release section provides plenty of pictures of the latest and greatest being put out by manufacturers. The final selection is a beautiful Battle of Britain Spitfire Mk. 1a. The detailing is described in good detail (no pun intended) and is very well illustrated.

This publication never lets you down. It offers high quality articles and builds with numerous model building tips in various mediums. The reference photos are very nice as well and a welcome addition to any publication. This magazine is what most model magazines strive to be.

Highly recommended.
