Lower your defenses and prepare to be assimilated.  Resistance is futile!  The Borg are one of my favorite villains from the Star Trek series.  They are a humanoid race that conquers civilization by absorbing their technology.  The humans are captured and biochips are placed in the head so that they can become one with the collective hive.  Also various gismos and gadgets are stuck in and on their bodies.  Cool stuff.

“Assimilated” is a 1/8th scale bust from Jiver Miniatures.  It includes two resin pieces and a piece of rubber tubing.  There is a small seam line on the back of the head that will need to be attended to with a file or sanding stick.

After gluing the eye piece on I washed the bust in warm soapy water to remove any mold release used in the casting process.  Next I primed it with Krylon flat black primer.  This was done because the Borg outfits are mostly black in color.

Painting was done with Delta Creamcoat paints.  The flesh color was base coated with Dresden flesh, followed by a couple of washes with blues and purples.  I then added veins using colored pencils.  To get a transparent looking flesh effect, I used Gel Stain Medium from Delta Creamcoat.  Mixing a small amount of the base coat with the medium creates a cool transparent color that lets all the veins show through.

When all the painting was done, I cut the tube into various lengths and super glued them in place.  The base is a two inch by two inch block of aluminum painted flat black with the Borg symbol airbrush on.  I added a small disc of confetti to the eye piece for the lens.
