With the release of Trumpeter’s LCM-3 kit I was sure it was only a matter of time before companies put out supplements.

Dragon Models has issued this wonderful kit.  I am not 100% sure if this is a new release or a re-release.  Either way it is a welcomed addition to their fine line of figure kits.  The copyright on the outside box says 2004 so I am inclined to believe it is new.

I’ll get the first “DING” out of the way now.  You get six “in action” figures but only three have the “mandatory” black floatation devices.

What you do get is a sturdy cardboard box with an artist rendering of the six figures.  Inside, you find five sprues of flash free gray styrene plastic.  Two sprues make up your weapons choices of either a grenade, carbine or BAR.  One sprue has all the shovels, wire cutters, ammunition pouches, and holstered .45.  There is a separate sprue for all 12 arms.  The last sprue contains the legs, torsos, heads, helmets, more ammunition pouches, rucksacks, bayonets, canteens, map case, binocular case and the three life preservers.  They also include a one sided 8x10 color, painting and parts placement guide.

The painting guide calls out number matches for Mr. Color, Hobby Color and Model Master paints.  Parts placement is vague at best but your average model builder should not have too much trouble figuring out where all the accessories go.  Study the pictures well and you should have no problem.

This is a great kit to add to your LCM or D-Day invasion Diorama (See this announcement from Dragon USA).  With some resin casting, you can make enough life preservers to fill the interior up with ready to storm the beach soldiers.
