Worthy compliments to an outstanding ship kit, the aircraft included with Trumpeter’s new 1/350 scale Hornet are the finest yet produced by anybody in that scale. These birds are superb little kits in themselves, setting a new standard for model shipboard aircraft. As if this wasn’t good enough, White Ensign Models has just released some incredible relief etched photoetch upgrades to improve them even more. These unbelievably detailed sets will enable you to turn your Hornet airgroup into a real jaw dropper.
The exterior sets cover the basic details such as propellers, wheels and undercarriages, tailhooks, landing gear doors and flaps. Especially impressive are the complex F4F Wildcat undercarriages and the SBD Dauntless dive brakes. The dive brakes are so tiny you can’t even see them in the scans, but they actually have the dozens of holes faithfully reproduced in them. Each set comes with enough parts to outfit ten aircraft. |
